30 Minute Dinner Rolls
Make the dough mixture for the 30 Minute Dinner Rolls recipe idea. This is a easy and very tasty Oven Baked recipe to be made for soup for dinner or lunch or make them for a starter. These are easy homemade with yeast. Different sizes can be made, depending what occasion you serving them for. Even add some cheese of your preference for cheese buns.
Why are my dinner rolls not light and fluffy?
Over mixing the dough causes the gluten to increase and makes the dough tougher. Using different flours such as bread or all purpose flours can also make a difference. To much flour is also the culprit.
How long do homemade dinner rolls last?
Once cooled keep left over dinner rolls in a sealed container to keep fresh. A zip lock bag is also good and the rolls or buns can last at room temperature to up to 3 days.
Are homemade rolls good the next day?
Stored in a closed air tight container, is best once they are cool. Eating them is best fresh on the day they are baked or within 24 hours of baking. They will be good the next day as well. These rolls or buns may be covered in foil and placed in a zip lock bag to freeze for about 2 – 3 months. Refresh them in the oven with a paste of water on them for a minute or two.
Ingredients
- warm water
- olive oil
- active dry yeast
- brown sugar
- Himalayan salt
- large egg
- flour

How To
In a bowl of your mixer, combine the warm water, oil, yeast and sugar. Allow the mixture to rest for 15 min.
Mix 2 cups of flour, the salt and the egg into the yeast mixture using a dough hook. Add the remaining 1 1/2 cups flour 1/2 cup at a time.
The dough is kneaded and rolled into balls and placed on a greased baking sheet to rise.
Rolling out the 12 balls and placing them on the baking tray then once risen you place them in the oven to bake. Baste the tops with a little whisked egg mixture for that golden brown finish.
Once golden brown and baked, then leave to cool a while on a cooling rack.
These lovely tasty golden rolls are really easy and a hit for the whole family. The kids will grab them when cool enough to eat right away. We make them when homemade tomato soup has been made and eat them with the bowl of soup. Very filling and really a great dinner roll to make.
Serve on a plated dish on a towel to keep the warmth of the bun or roll.

Ingredients
- 1 Cup plus 2 Tbsp of warm water
- 1/2 Cup of olive oil
- 2 Tbsp of active dry yeast
- 1/4 Cup of brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp of Himalayan salt
- 1 large egg
- 3 1/2 cups of flour
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 200 deg. C
- In a bowl of your mixer, combine the warm water, oil, yeast and sugar. Allow the mixture to rest for 15 min.
- Mix 2 cups of flour, the salt and the egg into the yeast mixture using a dough hook. Add the remaining 1 1/2 cups flour 1/2 cup at a time.
- Shape dough into 12 balls and place in a 9 x 12 pan. let dough rest for 10 minutes.
