A Girls Princesses Birthday Cake to bake and decorate with some fondant. Designing the dresses with different color fondant and adding some sparkle.
Thanks to my sister in law Marie` for making this stunning girls birthday cake for her grand daughters birthday. All homemade and looks so beautiful. The little girls was so pleased and it really made her day.
Firstly bake a cake you can cover with fondant. If you prefer a vanilla cake or a chocolate cake, so therefore both recipes are provided below.
A tasty vanilla cake would suit this cake for decoration with fondant.
The below photo is this vanilla cake iced. But some basic icing can be layered on this cake before the main fondant is applied. Then you would make your princess dresses and add them on the sides.
If you would rather prefer a chocolate cake that would be great as well.
Obtain the recipe here. Make a perfect chocolate cake for the base of the fondant as well.
After you have made the basic cakes to cover with fondant then you can work the fondant to cover the cake. Make the cake as high as you would like to suit your theme.
How to and tools needed.
Roll your fondant to the circumference you would need to cover your cake totally. White or light pink fondant would be great for this cake.
You would also need to print the princesses face on edible rice paper, that is done at various stores.
As mentioned above, you can apply frosting or icing on the cake before the fondant. As most people love the taste of the icing firstly.
Cover the cake with the fondant carefully and smoothly and then straighten it our nicely with a flat small tool from your kit. Fondant can be stuck to the frosting itself, without using any glue.
For more help to stick fondant decorations to cake see this highlighted link.
You do get a whole lot of tools to use for cake decoration.
Once that has been applied you can then apply the pretty faces you had printed on the side of the cake.
Then you need to color your different fondants with the colors you choose. Roll them out smoothly until soft. For the princesses dresses just fold the fondant slightly and cut them to size for the dresses frilly look. Also make the top and sleeves with a design made with some of these tools.
To stick the fondant decorations on the fondant you can use a small brush with a little water. Be careful not to use to much water it can become a mess.
