What does a traditional French omelet have?
A true French omelette is what the French call it, americans call it omelet. It only includes the basic ingredients such as whisked eggs, butter to fry in and does not have any fillings. So moist soft and filling.
What is the difference between a French omelette and a country omelette?
The French omelette are served plain or with very light fillings such as cheese or herbs, lightly cooked in a medium pan while being rolled to the side. Soft in the middle. The omelet is a little thicker and fluffier and filled up a lot more with so many different fillings.
What is a common mistake for an omelette?
- The pan size that you would cook your omelet in will determine how thick or thin your omelet will be. A to big a pan will make your omelets very thin, and your fillings will break it and fall out. But if its a French omelette then you would just roll it up, no fillings needed. But would suggest that about an 6 inch pan would be a good size.
- A non stick pan or lightly buttered will help with no sticking.
- The right temperature also is important. To hot will burn the bottom and leave the top uncooked. Medium temperature cooks the egg slowly and well, keeping it moist.
