Ingredients

  1. 1 tortilla
  2. 2 apples
  3. 2 tbsp. butter
  4. 3 tbsp. sugar
  5. 1 egg
  6. 1 tsp. cinnamon
  7. juice of half a lime or lemon
  8. Powdered sugar (for decoration)

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 180 deg. C  (356 deg. F.) Peel the apples from the seeds and insides. Dice the apples into small cubes and drizzle with lime juice.

2. Place apple cubes in a pan, add sugar, cinnamon, and 1 tbsp butter. Cook apples until soft, about 3 minutes over medium heat.

3. Spread the tortilla on the table. Brush the surface of the tortilla with butter.

4. Place the apple filling in the center.

5. Set aside 1 1/2 inches and roll up the long edges of the tortilla on both sides.

6. Roll the product into a roll. Brush all sides with beaten egg. Place the roll on a baking mat (or parchment) seam side down. Bake in the oven for 15 minutes until golden.

7. Transfer the strudel to a serving plate, cool slightly and sprinkle with powdered sugar. It depends on the length of your wrap or tortilla how many it will serve.

Notes

Variations:

1. Experiment with the filling – seedless cherries, cottage cheese with sugar, grated poppy seeds with honey, caramelized pears with soft cream cheese, apricots with raisins.

2. If you plan to feed a whole crowd, increase the amount of food, but don’t make it a very long tortilla. It may tear from the moist filling. It is better to prepare several rolls.
