Easy Fresh Fruit Salad
This is a very simple and easy Summer fruit salad, made with the fruit you have available. I use some sweet and soft fruit to add to the mix. This is a No Bake recipe idea for fresh healthy fruit available in season. Being on a farm there are many citrus fruit and bananas and paw paws or papayas or even pineapples. Where we live in Ecuador we do not have grapes or apples. Your regular shopping for fruits can add to a salad for a great dessert if not eaten.
What fruits should not be mixed in fruit salad?
It is said not to mix acidic fruits with sweet fruits, such as grapefruits with strawberries. But however you can mix sub acidic with acidic fruits for a better balance.
How do I keep fresh fruit salad from turning brown?
Fresh fruits that would turn brown are banana and apples. Make a mixture of a cup of water with lemon to dunk the pieces in so not to brown by the time you serve them. A better idea is to cut them up fresh just before serving. That is if it is a small serving. For larger servings dunk them in some lemon juice mix, serve with dressing.
How to keep fruit salad fresh?
To keep fruit salad fresh you would need to add some acidic juices of lemon or orange juice with the fruits that brown, such as apples and bananas. Kept covered in the fridge for up to 3-4 days for a tasty dessert. The fruits will start to brown if kept to long. They will also make some juices.
Is homemade fruit salad good for you?
Not only is homemade fresh fruit good for you it is very healthy and provides vitamin C for your immune system. Great for the gut and very useful for using amounts of fruit that needs to be eaten before it spoils. Fruit salad can be served as a dessert with dressing or evaporated milk or ice cream. Wash and obtain the fruit you will need to cut up for this fresh healthy salad recipe idea.
Peel and cut the fruit into bite size blocks. I used paw paw and apple and pineapple, grapes and banana.
The fruit mix all cut up and chilled for the tasting, add ice cream or cream. One can sprinkle some sugar or lime over the fruit. It will give it lasting color and with sugar a sweeter taste.
When making a fruit salad with fruits that will change color quickly it should be made just before serving.
Using fruits that are in season is a great choice. Other fruits you can use in a salad are strawberries, kiwi, water melon blue berries or raspberries and so on. Just to give you an idea.
To make a dressing for a fruit salad mix together some honey orange juice and lemon zest. Drizzle over the fruit and toss together and serve. Delicious.

Ingredients
Use any fruit available at the time.
- 2 Bananas
- 1 Apple
- 5 Grapes
- 2 slices of cut Pineapple
- 1/2 a Paw Paw
As much as you would like to make in a bowl. Or that you have available.
Making a dressing
- Use honey
- Orange juice
- lemon zest
Or even just add ice cream or evaporated milk.
Instructions
- Wash and peel some fruit. You have available.
- Cut bananas into small slices.
- Core apples and cut into edible pieces.
- Peel and cut up pineapple and chop into small pieces.
- Halve grapes.
- Peel and cut the paw paw into slices, then chop into edible pieces.
- Mix all with a little sugar, by folding with a spoon. Or even drizzle a small mix of dressing over fruit with orange juice honey and lemon zest over banana and apple and other fruit, serve.
- Leave to chill in fridge for a short time. (not to discolor the fruit)
- Serve with ice cream or whipped cream. Or even make some custard or drizzle on some evaporated milk.
