Easy Homemade Fig Jam recipe idea to create. A sweet vanilla fig jam for fillings and spreads on toasts or on crackers for snacks.

Ingredients

  1. 900 g, (2 lbs) of ripe clean, chopped figs
  2. 1/2 cups of fine sugar
  3. 1/2 cup of organic honey
  4. 1 lemon juiced
  5. 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Clean and cut up the rip figs, measure all ingredients.
  2. Add all the ingredients to a pot on the stove top. (except the vanilla extract) On a medium heat, heat up these ingredients. Stirring now and again until the sugar is melted into the jam.
  3. Bring this liquid to a boil. Then reduce it to a medium heat and stir occasionally for 45 minutes. Do the test to see if the jam is done, if it falls off easily then it need more cooking. Once it does not fall off easily then it is done.
  4. As the mixture thickens it could stick to the bottom of the pot, so stir often and watch the jam.
  5. Remove from the stove and add in the vanilla extract.
  6. Add the fig jam mixture into clean and sterilized jars for storage.
