Ingredients

Units Scale
  1. 5 cups of apple slices
  2. 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  3. 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
  4. 2 Tablespoons of brown sugar
  5. 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

Cake top

  1. 2 1/3 cups of flour
  2. 1 1/4 cups of brown sugar
  3. 12 teaspoons of baking powder
  4. 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  5. 1 cup of melted butter

 

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to be warm by the time you place this apple cake in. 175 Deg. C (350 deg. F)
  2. In a medium bowl add your cut apples, and add the spices of cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar and vanilla. Combine them so they are all coated well.
  3. Then mix the dry ingredients, for the topping, flour, baking powder, salt, and brown sugar.
  4. Melt the butter on the stove top or in the warm oven while you mix these ingredients.
  5. Place these apple pieces in a greased glass dish. (9 x13) Add the cake topping on top of the apples and spread out evenly.
  6. Pour the melted butter over the top of the topping and make sure it covers all the topping.
  7. Place in the oven and bake for 45 -50 minutes until it is cooked and the top is nice and light brown and it should be bubbly.
  8. Serve warm or cold or at room temperature. Add ice cream or whipped cream or evaporated milk on top and enjoy.
