A Philly sandwich or as South Africans would call it, A steak and cheese sub or filled hot dog roll. Great to make these with left over meats and add any fillings you would like. A No Bake recipe idea that is simple yet pleasing for the weekend lunch or to serve up for kids, and game days.

What cut of meat is used for cheesesteak?
Use any tender steak of your choice, specifically rib eye or flank steaks. Cut into pieces for better eating on a roll or hoagie roll for a meal.
What sub roll is best for cheesesteak?
You could toast your hot dog rolls or hoagie rolls and even use Italian or French rolls or a French Baguette. Any round roll from the bakery or homemade will do.
Ingredients
- beef slice or shaved steak
- green pepper, cut into strips
- onion, cut into slices
- mushrooms, slices
- mozzarella or Velveeta cheese, cut into cubes
- cup canned sliced tomato or Rotel
- hot dog or hoagie rolls

How To
Wash and cut your veggies. slice the mushrooms and onion and peppers.
Add the shaved steak and sliced veggies to a skillet and cook over medium low heat, turning the meat and veggies every couple of minutes, until the steak is cooked through and the peppers are tender to your liking.
Add the mozzarella or Velveeta and canned tomato or Rotel to a bowl, if preferred (microwave for 1 minute, remove and stir, then heat for an additional 1-2 minutes,) You can also melt this in a sauce pan and stir until you have a melty cheese sauce.
Slice the rolls, butter and fill each with ¼ of the meat and veggies mixture, then top with cheese sauce.
To make them more cheesy I would suggest adding extra cheese on top and grilling it in the oven to melt and then we have a sub roll for a meal. Yummy!
These make a delicious meal for a week day or week end lunch or supper for the kids or family.
They will be great to add left overs from another meal in these hot dog rolls and top with cheese and grill to melt. So Delicious.

- 14 oz beef shaved or sliced steak
- ½ green pepper, cut into ½ inch strips
- ½ onion, cut into ½ inch slices (yellow, red or white)
- 4 oz button mushrooms, sliced
- 10 oz Mozzarella cheese, cut into 1 inch cubes ( Velveeta or feta)
- ½ cup sliced canned tomatoes or Rotel
- 4 hot dog rolls (hoagie rolls)
Instructions
1. Wash and cut your veggies.

4. Slice the hot dog (hoagie) rolls, Butter and fill each with ¼ of the meat and veggies mixture, then top with cheese sauce.
Serve for a light meal for week or week end Saturday meals.
