Why does my lasagna taste sour?
To neutralize sour or bitterness in your lasagna flavors, add some sweet ingredients. Such as sugar or honey will counteract the bitterness. Even adding milk to your tomato sauce, as Italians do. That is why tasting as you cook will help you add sweeteners before you make up the dish.
What is the best dish to cook lasagna in?
For me the best dish to cook lasagna and casseroles in is a deep Pyrex glass dish. Leaves you with more than enough place for the layers for lasagna dish.
Should homemade lasagna be covered when baking?
Yes, cover for the first two thirds of baking with foil, to prevent the topping from burning and this keeps in the heat. If you do not cover the lasagna it may a dry it out. Then remove the foil and bake a further until the top is nice and golden brown. Take out and leave to set for a few minutes then serve hot.
Why does sauce go first in lasagna?
Sauce goes first in the casserole dish for lasagna as this will prevent the pasta sheets from burning and sticking to the bottom. It also helps the pasta sheets cook and soften.
