To make this Sauce, you would need quit a few apples. In this instance we only had the sweet red apples, so they were used. A whole box of apples would of gone to waste. My mother always taught me that you do not waste any food.

Why do you put lemon juice in applesauce?

How To
The above photo is of peeled, cored and chopped up apples. I opted for large pieces, but would suggest smaller chopped up apples for a tasty pie. In the pot you would bring to simmer on medium heat, the sugar and cinnamon and some water. Stirring now and again.
Simmer with a few bubbles showing, always stirring now and again. For about 30 minutes. Large chopped apples cook faster.
The pot above shows that I opted for a smoother apple sauce, which needs to be mashed.
Fill the sterilized bottles with the warm sauce and close the lid.
The apple sauce may be kept for baking or desserts and many other uses. Very handy to have available. Canning may also be done with this sauce.
A sweet aroma of stewed apples filled the kitchen, very tasty apple sauce.
Apple sauce bottled lasts for a few months, and best of all its freezable.

Ingredients
- 6 Lbs. (3kg) of sweet apples (of choice)
- 2 Cups of water
- 1/2 lemons juice.
- 3/4 cup of white sugar (or brown)
- 1 Tbsp of cinnamon
Instructions
- Chop and peel the apples.
- Place all in a cooking pot and cook over medium heat, stirring now and again. For 30 min.
- (chunkier apples take less time than smaller ones)
- If you prefer smooth apple sauce then mash the apples.
- Fill sterilized warm jars with the warm mix.
- Consume within a few months.
- Freezing is good for this sauce as well.
- Canning can also be done with this sauce.
