A large one pot meal for family, slowly cooked on the stove top. This pot of stew will last two to three days and is great warmed up the next day and served with rice. Lunch or dinner meal for family. Easy and simple to have this stew available when you do not have time or the electricity to cook a meal. You know what they say, “when that big pot comes out you going to eat out of it for a few days“. It gets better by the day.

What can I add to beef stew to make it taste better?
After tasting your stew to see what it needs, and if its tastes off balance then add some soy sauce or Worcestershire for extra savory flavor. A touch of honey or brown sugar for sweetness. Lemon zest or vinegar for brightness. For spicy and depth add smoked paprika or chili powder.

- beef strips

- small potato´s
- vegetables. (broccoli and peas, butternut or squash, small yellow tomato and other)
- onions and garlic
- tin of mushroom creamy soup.
- salt and pepper and oregano
- little olive oil to sauté with.

How To
Firstly you get a large pot and place it on the stove top plate.
- Add a little olive oil to sauté the meat and bacon bits.
- Remove and then sauté the onions and garlic.
- Add the meat and then the washed small potato with skin on and add to the dish.
- Adding the vegetables of choice as well.
- Turn the plate to simmer and add a lid to simmer until tender.
- Then lastly add the tin of creamy mushroom soup. Leaving to simmer a little longer.

The mushroom soup was added and left to simmer until all is done.
Serve
In a serving plate add your beef stew and serve with a buttered slice of bread or make a pot of rice to serve with this stew.
The favorite way we eat this stew is on top of a buttered slice of bread, with tomato sauce.
Delicious beef and veggies stew to last two to three days, if that. Its very delicious warmed up the next day and then served with a side dish of rice.
Even on the third day serve on top of a slice of toast. Mostly gravy left by then, Never waste food, as this pot of stew is great for those cold days and when there is no electricity or time to cook a meal quickly.
Plated on some buttered bread is one way we love to eat this stew.

Ingredients
Depending on the size of this stew needed.( make more or less)
1. 1 kg of Beef strips.
2. 250 g of bacon chopped.
3. 1 large onion chopped
4. 2 garlic cloves chopped
5. 2 tablespoons of olive oil
6. 1 teaspoon of salt and black pepper
7. 2 teaspoons of dried oregano herbs
8. 2 cups of small potato´s with skin on or not.
9. 2 cups of mixed veggies. (broccoli, peas, butternut,)
10. 2 tins of creamy mushroom soup
Instructions
1.In a large pot, heat up the stove plate and add some olive oil to brown the meat first. Remove then do onions.
2. Sauté the onions and garlic for a few minutes until soft. Then add the bacon and the beef strips and brown them. Cook for about 10 – 15 min. Sprinkling on salt and pepper and oregano. Stirring a little, to make sure the meat is all equally brown.
3. Adding the washed potato and then the vegetables on top. The potato´s need to cook more as that is why you add them first. If needed add a little water, (1 cup). I used some frozen butternut which had enough liquid. Monitor the liquid as you need it for the gravy. Adding a little water if required to soften the potato and veggies. (not to much)
4. Simmer on low, the stew for at least an hour or hour and half. Until you test the potato and veggies are soft. Stirring carefully now and again to make sure all the ingredients is cooking equally.
5. Add the cream of mushroom soup and stir and warm and cook that up for about 15 minutes on low.
6. Switch the plate off and leave to stand for 10 minutes.
7. Serve in a bowl or on top of a slice of buttered bread or with rice.
Notes
Cooking the pot of stew slowly will tenderize the meat and develop a delicious flavor.
